I had a really happy birthday this year – I had multiple celebrations and surprises.
I feel like I could sing this ala 12 days of Christmas: 🎵On the first day of my birthday, my work team gave to me… a bouquet, cake, and long stay in SG 🎵
Okay, that’s not gonna work! 😅Moving on.
The first surprise came from my office team. I blogged about it in detail previously, but in a nutshell, they got the receptionist to call me and give me flowers, then had a surprise waiting for me upstairs when I got back – a pretty cake and a “Long Staying Award” for my 10 years in Singapore, a spoof of my corporate Long Service Award for 5 years in our company.
The next day, our receptionist called me to say that I had another delivery. “Again?” I asked. I went downstairs to see that I had another bouquet of fresh flowers from The Bloom Box with a box of my favourite Twelve Cupcakes. 😍
This time there was no mystery about who this came from because it came with a note.
How sweet! Actually, the note should have said “Canada, Australia, and Singapore.”
Later, I had a picture taken with Jemma, because she’s the only one in Singapore. She also gave me the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb that I’m using in the picture.
I spent my actual birthday in Bintan, Indonesia with my friend Arlyn. She gave me a very pretty cheesecake and moonstone necklace for new beginnings and good fortune, which I need at this stage in my life!
The day after that, I landed back in Singapore and had dinner with my hometown friends at Sandbank, a kid-friendly restaurant in East Coast Park.
Aren’t the little boys adorable?
The food was really good – we had grilled platter, pizza, and pasta. The pasta had a bit too much truffle oil, though, so much so that the kids hated it.
I got another pretty cake – which is my fourth birthday cake at this point, but who’s complaining? It was as delicious as it was pretty.
Then Elma and Brian made me open a gigantic gift-wrapped box which turned out to contain…
… a Nespresso inissia machine! I was so surprised even though it’s on my wish list, because I didn’t really expect them to pick that!
I was so thrilled with it that I immediately bought a box of “Our All-Time Favourites” capsules that came with a free discovery box where I can display my capsules.
Then my boss Evelyn gave me her extra aeroccino milk frother so I can now make cafe-like cappuccinos every morning. My fave capsule is the Livanto, which is an espresso level 6 which smells and tastes so divine even without sugar. I live for Livanto!
The day after that, I got my third bouquet of birthday flowers – a dozen gorgeous gigantic red long-stemmed roses from Roses Only Singapore.
They were so pretty that after I put them in a vase in our living room, both my flatmates were compelled to snap pictures of it and put it on their Instagram.
We then hit a pause on my birthday as I went about my normal everyday. Until the next weekend, when I finally got my wish to hit the karaoke. We went to Teo Heng KTV at Katong Shopping Centre and sang for three hours. Since there were just four of us, we managed to sing a lot!
Jo gave me and Jemma pretty birthday sunflowers! Maybelle’s gift for me also came with flowers, though not fresh ones – a wallet with flowers on it. It really rained flowers for my birthday, which I am happy about, by the way, because I love flowers!
After KTV, we had dinner at Strong Flour, because Maybelle has the entertainer app and had one-for-one vouchers.
The food was really good! I loved the lasagna especially, though the squid ink pasta was also interesting.
Unfortunately there was too much that we couldn’t finish it. I took some pizza home, and microwaved them for dinner the next day, sharing them with my team. My teammates were surprised when I told them it was microwaved, because it still tasted fantastic despite being day old pizza.
I also got a present from my friends the meanies and my flatmate Bin – Adidas Ultra Boost shoes from my wish list! Yay! It turns out I am a size 6.5 in men’s shoes. They fit perfectly though a bit snugly, but it’s meant to fit that way. It really is very comfortable to walk in them. It’s like you’re – bouncing? I don’t know how to explain it!
And finally, my birthday gift to myself was a second hand Mulberry classic calf small suffolk bag in emerald, which I spotted at a Reebonz warehouse sale. It’s my first ever luxury bag purchase. I have had my eye on a Mulberry Bayswater for a while, but my main issue with that bag is that it’s hard to wear it on your shoulders, so the suffolk is actually better for me.
So happy and grateful to everyone who made my birthday a happy one!
