Over the weekend, Tiffany’s collaborated with Tiong Bahru Bakery to make Breakfast at Tiffany’s a reality.
They set up a booth outside Ion Orchard to give out free coffee in cute Tiffany blue cups and their signature croissants in exchange for social media posts.
But I didn’t want to go to Orchard on a Sunday (I wasn’t free on Saturday) because any Singapore resident worth her salt knows how crowded it gets on Sundays.
So Arlyn and I headed to the original Tiong Bahru Bakery at Tiong Bahru, which had also been temporarily made over in the signature Tiffany blue color for the weekend.
I should have worn a little black dress and pearls to complete the look with my sunglasses, eh? But Arlyn and I had already done that before when we went and watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s under the stars.
There was a bit of a queue, as expected, but not so long as in Orchard, I bet, because they weren’t giving freebies away.
We got a table for two indoors and then had to queue again once we got inside. Look at all those treats!
Arlyn ordered an almond croissant while I got a kouign amann to pair with coffee.
The cashier asked if I wanted my coffee to be served in a Tiffany cup and I said yes, because of course isn’t that what everyone is here for on this day? 😄
Arlyn confided that her husband Seb, a French man, is obsessed with Tiong Bahru Bakery’s croissants and always over-orders them whenever he gets a chance to drop by the bakery. He says they taste like authentic French croissants.
I have to say that they taste very delicious so I can’t really blame him. The buttery taste coupled with the crisp is unlike the common croissant from other local bakeries.
I am glad that we made the effort to come down for this because it was worth it!
P.S. Dear Armar, Happy Birthday! I wish you could have been here to join us yesterday. We miss you but we know you are happy in Oz with your family. Hope you enjoy your day with them today!
