For months, maybe years now, I have suffered from dandruff. I’ve tried different kinds of dandruff shampoos and treatments and they would sometimes work only for a few days and then the dandruff would creep back again. So when I found out that Bee Choo Origin offers Dandruff Hair & Scalp Treatment, I jumped at the chance to give it a try because I was dying to have a clean scalp again.
I went to their branch in Bugis one Sunday and my first impression was that the salon looked very pretty. It has a vintage vibe with the rose wallpaper and pretty mirrors and fabulous lighting that make your skin look so nice even without any filters. The place had quite a few customers – all of them ladies, because this is a specialised retail format that caters only to women. For our muslim friends, its also known as Muslimah Hair Salon near to the east.
On my first day, they asked about my issues and examined my scalp.
As you can see from the screen grabs, my scalp had dandruff flakes. It was also very itchy, so itchy that sometimes when I scratched, it would trigger flakes to rain down on my top, and also I would sometimes draw blood. Gross, right?
From the hair chart above, my scalp was level 3.
But they said not to worry, they could help me.
The Treatment
My treatment began with a cup of sweet tea for me to drink while a therapist used some ginger spray on my scalp to open up the pores.
This was followed by a head, shoulder, and scalp massage that was so good!
Then some virgin olive oil was sprayed on my hair to make it shinier.
Then came their famous herbal paste.
Bee Choo’s herbal paste contains Ling Zhi, the dual-modulating adaptogen that would help to regulate dry and dandruff scalp and help to regain its healthy state. Chuan Xiong found in the herbal paste is also known to help improve blood circulation which helps the sebaceous glands to function healthily.
This herbal hair treatment addresses these issues:
- Hair Loss
- White/Grey Hair
- Oily Itchy Scalp
- Dandruff
- Chemically damaged hair
- Bacterial infection
The concoction was thoroughly slathered on my scalp and hair.
Then my head was wrapped and put under a steamer while a warm bean bag pillow sat on my shoulders. So cozy! 😌
There’s a lot of time to kill while waiting for your steam session to be over, but luckily in today’s day and age you can easily pass that time on your smartphone. Not to worry, if your phone’s out of juice, they have dedicated electric outlets for you and they can even lend you a charger. Nice, right? 😄
After the steaming was done, the therapist rinsed off the paste with special shampoo and conditioner.
Then she sprayed on some scalp hair tonic which strengthens hair, relieves itchiness, and controls sebaceous excretion of the scalp. I liked the minty feeling so much that I bought a bottle for myself.
She then semi-dried my hair because it’s best for best absorption of herbal qualities.
Honest Review
To be honest, I am not a fan of the strong ginseng smell of the product, but it was only there for a night and disappeared after I shampooed my hair the next day.
After the first session, my scalp did feel clean and not oily anymore, however, the itchiness was still there, though admittedly less, like 50%. So I had to constantly use the hair tonic to chase it away. However, despite the itchiness, I noticed that I no longer had flakes.
But then after the second session, I was surprised because the itchiness had gone away almost completely. I hardly felt it anymore, it had been reduced to about 90%
After my fourth session, my scalp looked like this.
It’s so clean! Gone are the flakes, oil, and blood!
I was so impressed that I decided to keep coming back for non-sponsored monthly sessions. Now that my scalp is at level 1, I don’t need weekly sessions anymore. Isn’t that awesome?
The great thing about them is that their fees are so affordable. That’s because their founder Madam Bee Choo’s mantra is always sincerity before profits, so they maintain very reasonable mass market affordability prices.
I have actually tried other salon scalp sessions before but they were pricier than this and also, they have that irritating habit of hard-selling packages with hidden charges. I hate that!
If you have hair or scalp issues that you want to get rid of, I definitely suggest Bee Choo Origin Ladies. They are certified with TQCSI in Singapore.
