Beulah invited Ashley and me to watch Mania: the Abba Tribute Concert last Saturday. Originally from London’s West End, they did a few shows at the big top for the AIA Carnival.
This tribute takes you back in time by recreating one of the world’s finest pop groups in a live stage performance. This highly polished and professional production was created in 1999 and played its first show in 2000. In 2002, it played 18 weeks in the Strand Theatre London re-creating the ABBA phenomenon for fans from all over the world.
Even though it was not the real Abba, the performers were very talented and put on such a great show. The audience had such a good time as they waved their lit-up phones, shook feather boas, sang, and danced along.
I know a lot of Abba songs even though the band broke up the year I was born, mostly because their songs kept on being played on the radio and also because of the Mamma Mia movies. After I watched the first Mamma Mia movie, I downloaded the songs and played them on repeat.
So it was nice to be able to sing and dance along to songs that I knew well.
After the concert, we walked out of the big top to enjoy the rest of the AIA Carnival.
We played a lot of carnival games – darts, shooting balls into jars, shooting at stuff, throwing at stuff, pinball – and somehow ended up winning a lot of small stuffed toys. I got 4 by the end of the night. I was super stoked to get a stuffed chipmunk which is a mini version of the big stuffed chipmunk that I got as a Christmas present from my bestfriends over a decade ago.
We grabbed some food from the stalls and ate them at the food court area. I loved the foie gras toast and mac & cheese & beef that I ordered.
There were lots of scary-looking rides, but we didn’t go on any of them. We opted for the bump cars instead, and it was fun though short-lived.
While on the queue to the bump cars, Ashley realized that one of her gold earrings was missing. Then Beulah found a BMW car key in her bump car. We retraced our steps to try and find Ashley’s earring but no dice. We headed to the customer service area to report our Lost and Found. Beulah joked about how we wouldn’t turn in the key unless we got the earring back, but the staff thought he was serious. Another guy laughed, though.
It was a really fun night, I gotta say, but I was excited to go home because my feet were killing me. Tory Burch flats are pretty, but lack the support for this kind of activity!
