We saw ASAP Fanatic live in Glorietta last Sunday. My feet were killing me coz we were standing up, and part of me was wondering if all this pain was worth it just to see Lucky, Bea, John Lloyd, Heart, Shaina, Roxanne, Joross, Hero and other SCQ stars. Really, I mused, what’s the big deal about these stars, anyway? It’s not as if I haven’t seen enough of them already. Then I started to recount all my star-studded experiences.
I Love You Piolo! During review, my blockmates and I were wandering around in Robinson’s Galleria when we spied Piolo Pascual inside Max’s. He was with a few other artists and his kid (we presumed). He was way cuter than we imagined; even our guy companions were wowed. I happened to be bringing my camera with me, so we actually hung around until they left the restaurant and we asked to have our picture taken with him, his kid, and Lawrence Mumar, another actor.
Call Me Streetgirl. When I worked in Davao, my officemates and I went on a gimik in Liquid Bar, where the Streetboys and John Lloyd Cruz also happened to be. They were in Davao to promote a newly opened mall. Turns out our boss, who was with us, was a first cousin of Spencer Reyes. That was how we ended up dancing with the streetboys. Feeling close!
A Night with the Champions. During my first week of work, my friend Gay told us her cousin had given her tickets to the concert of the champions, Sarah Geronimo, Mark Bautista, Erik Santos, Christian Bautista and Rachel Ann Go. Though I had a team building seminar to attend early the next day, I told myself this was a chance I wouldn’t let slip through my fingers so I stocked up on Pharmaton and Lipovitan and went with Zenie and Gay to the Araneta Coliseum. We had patron seats and a great view of the singers. It was definitely a night to remember.
One Good Year Coming Up. For the first time in my life, I spent New Year’s Eve away from Zamboanga. My friends Junjun, Maya, Gay and Beth, who also didn’t go home for the holidays went with me to the new year’s countdown concert in Ayala, Makati. We were serenaded by popular bands and singers like Kitchie Nadal and Sugarfree. We also had the chance to see reporters Karen Davila and Erwin Tulfo and hosts Toni Gonzaga and Ryan Agoncillo. Definitely a good way to start the year.
Lovapalooza. My friend Zenie and I are not lesbians, and we certainly had no intention to kiss each other to help break a world record, but we went to the Valentine’s Day Lovapalooza event in Roxas Boulevard. There was a street concert, and we ended up having loads of fun, even though there just the two of us (Certain guys whose names need not be mentioned backed out at the last minute. Must’ve been scared we’d get carried away by the moment and kiss them.). We sang along with Bamboo, Dingdong Avanzado & Jessa Zaragosa, Freestyle (seeing my fave band compensated for everything), Christian Bautista, Keith Martin, Kyla and Luke Mejares. At the stroke of midnight, all the couples kissed, then fireworks exploded in the sky. It was really awesome.
Magic Temple. Last Saturday we had a scheduled temple tour in our Church. As I hadn’t seen the temple since I was a kid, I dragged my butt over to our chapel at 6am just so I could see it again. Melanie Marquez, who is in my Church ward, graciously offered to bring me with her in her car. Boy, was she a fast driver! She was really congenial and kept on cracking jokes. She even brought snacks for everyone – bread with tuna spread that she made herself. Despite her status and her height, the way she talked to us that day, she wasn’t that hard to reach after all.
Next time I’m aiming for Hollywood (I wish!).
