It’s midnight, and I’m wearing a spaghetti-strapped top and boxer shorts with the electric fan turned up high. But I’m tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep, as the sweat trickles down my neck. Agh! It’s so WARM!!
It’s summer indeed. There are signs everywhere – halo-halo being sold on every stoop, brightly-colored bikinis and beach shorts displayed in every mall, me welcoming the freezing cold of the office even though I used to hate working in the office because the centralized airconditioning turns my fingernails blue from the cold.
In our apartment, we used to consume a huge container of distilled water in about a week. Now we drain it in 2 days.
A good thing, though, that we were finally able to buy a refrigerator two weeks ago, after several months of saving up. The cold water and goodies are definitely a welcome addition especially in this sweltering season.
I would love to hit the beach, especially since I haven’t been to one since I came to Manila. Unfortunately, the nearest beach is several hours away, unlike in my hometown. Oh, the things you take for granted.
Also, we auditors are smack in the middle of the busy season, so we officemates haven’t had time to splash around. However, deadline’s almost up and I’m looking forward to a grand getaway!
