Yeah I know what you’re thinking. Yearend? But it’s not even into the ‘ber months yet! Well, our company does not follow the calendar year, and we close our fiscal years every June. And to celebrate that, we usually have a party after about a couple of months. So for this year, the following were set — date: August 18, place: Strumm’s Jupiter, theme: rockstar.
The highlight for the event was the search for the first FSS Rockstar. Five people from the entire FSS were chosen to compete against each other. Our group, P2P, even held an audition for the one who will represent us, and would you believe I was one of the contenders. Not that I wanted to, mind you, I’m definitely no rocker, but let’s just say when certain bosses put you on the spot, it’s hard to say no.
Needless to say, I did not win. Thom landed that spot for our group. But he didn’t do it alone. Our bosses were so supportive and even formed themselves into his support group in charge of putting together his outfits & posters, and ensuring that the P2P team would give their all out support to Thom during the gig itself.
Friday itself found me in a purple leather skirt and infront of my computer muttering curses because I was stuck in the office while everyone else was heading for the event, thanks to some urgent payment that had to be included for payment run but which was not even posted yet that’s why I had to wait for it.
Okay, so that was all a blur. Point is, in the end it encountered some system issue and could be run on Wednesday so my hour of waiting was for nothing. Oh well. At least I still got to the party with my best buds Yen and Gelle.
We found seats with the AP group in the second floor (which overlooked the stage below), even though Gelle is not from AP. We all screamed and sang along with Thom when it was his turn. In the end, he made it to the final two but lost to a girl from the Finsol group. Oh well. Not bad.
After the winner was announced, we went downstairs and started grooving to the music, chancing upon the model Brad Turvy on his way to the men’s room. Then we all posed onstage with the guitarists before leaving. So, was it a fun, rockin’ night, you ask? Hell yeah! =)
