Early Valentines (February 9)Jen’s birthday fell on a Saturday, so we decided to stage her surprise a day before. We decorated her place with all the red stuff we could get our hands on – balloons and anthuriums borrowed from our new floor’s decorations, the couch from the reception area, and greetings and pictures printed on red paper taped to the wall. We also bought a valentine-themed cake and a dozen red roses for her and asked JB, an office cutie from another row, to present the latter to her. Jen’s reaction was priceless. She was so happy that she would keep bringing up the guy’s name in the next days to come and we would feign annoyance and tell her, ‘Jen it’s no longer your birthday. PLEASE move on!’ She thanked us by treating us to videoke night in Platinum that Friday night where we sang, ‘Hit me JB one more time!’

Triple Treat (March 4)Three guys in the office share the same birthday and their friends shared the same set of friends, so a shared birthday gimik was cooked up. We reserved the wii room for lunch and ordered pizza, roasted chicken and cake. After other friends pulled them there, their final surprise entered the room… a serenade! Three girls sang ‘Harana’ with the lyrics tweaked to their favor (we gave the boys dried roses and even decorated the ceiling with stars). After Ping, Manny and Thom blew out their candles on their cake, everyone ate a hearty lunch. At the end of the day, the ‘triplets’ said they were really happy and thanked us for their surprise by treating us to ice cream.
