In our office we use the MindAlign application for internal chat. One of its main differences from Sametime and Microsoft Communicator is that it has channels that one can join in, much like the MIRC of olden days. These channels are usually created for work groups, like our team has one so that we can chat to each other about approvals. There are some channels, however, that were created for socialization purposes, like pinoy_sa_ubs where the Pinoys in the company gather to chat and have fun. However, management has decided to discontinue these non-work related channels and sent off messages to inform the users about it. This morning, when one of these auto-generated messages appeared in the middle of our conversations, I laughed at Phil’s response.

I loved this channel, though. This was my venue for speaking in my native tongue about things everyone could relate to. This was also a place to meet new friends. I sure will miss it. 🙁
