We call Cate and Dengs the “kambal ng tadhana” because they were both born on the same day of the same year. This year they celebrated their birthdays together for the first time, and we held it at Rodel’s flat.
Before that, at the stroke of midnight, we flatmates gave Cate our star-themed presents for her – star charm on a bracelet, star-shaped earrings, Mrs. Fields cookie and P.osh brownie with customized star design, panty with little stars, star-shaped chocolates in a star-shaped case (thanks to AA), chocolates in star-designed wrappers, and a star wand. We also got her a pint of her most favorite Andersen’s Belgian chocolate chip ice cream with a choco-dipped sugar cone, a dress, and messages from her loved ones rolled up inside capsules and placed in a small bottle. The reason for the star theme is that Cate loves making paper stars.
For Rodel, our gift was a wallet, and I printed the messages I collected for him like Singaporean money bills that he could tuck into our gift should he want to.
Cate’s camp prepared chicken barbeque (using the recipe we used for Ateneo Fiesta back in my SALT days), chopsuey and fondue while Rodel’s cooked liempo, pancit and cheese sticks. I had a dragonboat rowing session in the Singapore river, so I was a bit late, but still got to eat a lot of food. Loved the Magnolia blueberry ripple ice cream and the liempo!
