I did not want to go initially, but Cate was so convincing that in the end, I found myself in a ferry boat that took less than an hour to bring us to Bintan Lagoon Resort in Indonesia for an overnight stay starting yesterday.
I’m glad I went, though! The view was breathtakingly beautiful. The resort is sort of like Dakak Beach Resort (Philippines) in that it had both a pool and the sea, but this was so much more ravishing.
Our hotel was located atop a grassy hill and as we walked down towards the dazzling blue pool, we saw a squirrel scurrying up a coconut tree trunk.
From the pool we walked some distance towards the beach, where we came upon my favorite view that was of the the trees on the rocks near the beach.
The sand was as fine as Goldilocks polvoron.
I also loved our hotel room’s designs and amenities.
It was a sweltering summer day which we solved by drinking fresh coconut juices and shakes and taking a dip in the pool, where there was a basketball ring which we utilized. My team lost the game by one shot, 20 to 21. Oh well. It was fun, though I stressed my throat with all the laughing and screaming.
After that we changed and tried looking for a restaurant to have dinner in but they were all expensive so we settled for room service, dining while watching cable TV which we’ve missed terribly. I would’ve liked to stay up longer but I was so exhausted that I dozed off right after dinner.
The next day we had a free buffet breakfast before heading back to the beach where we rode a banana boat.
Then we jumped back into the pool for a quick swim before heading back to our rooms to change, pack up and check out.
Everything cost us less than 200 sgd each and the funny thing is, even though we were in a different country, we did not even have to bother exchanging our money to Indonesian rupiahs since the resort accepted Singaporean dollars. It’s so near Singapore that most of their customers are probably from here!
