Singapore just recently opened its newest mall, Ion Orchard. This new mall has a beautifully unusual design – lots of lights and wavy lines, completely different from your typical rectangular buildings. It’s located in the shopping district, Orchard road.

Its beauty is not limited to its outer appearance, however, as inside, its eight floors (Basement 4 to fourth floor) houses a lot of great brands and shops.
My first visit there was for lunch with Yves and Betchie. They have a huge Food Opera at basement four, with plenty of food stalls offering all sorts of food. I’d recommend the chicken wings, Tori-Q chicken balls, and those cocktail hotdogs. They also have a Royce chocolate shop, so we bought ourselves a box of their nama chocolates to eat at the office.
On my second visit, Tatsie and I bought wallets at Guess and I also got one a pair of flip-flops that you can buy with a purchase. Then we discovered Sephora, a shop full of branded makeup and girly stuff and I absolutely fell in love with the place. I could stay in there forever. Or a really really long time, anyway. I discovered their body butter that smells good enough to eat and though I rarely ever use lotion or body butter, I found myself bringing this to the cashier. Chi had her own handful of discoveries. Then we decided that that was enough shopping and headed to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to chill before heading home via the MRT, which is right beside B2. As in, when you exit from the turnstiles, you’ll already find yourself inside the mall. How convenient!
The next day, we roommates were back there again, this time to look for a Canon Ixus camera. To our surprise, however, there wasn’t a single shop that sold one in there. Eeps. I ended up back in Sephora to buy a Mac studio fix compact then later in Longchamp to buy one of the best travel bags at 30% off the tag price.
I think Ion may well possibly be Singapore’s best mall so far. But do not go there unless you’re prepared to lose some money. The temptation is hard to resist!
