On Thursday night when I got home, I had a “surprise” waiting for me at home – Chu had flown in from Thailand in time for my birthday on Monday.
So last night, we had dinner at 7101 Flavours in Marina Square, his favorite restaurant in Singapore. We had our staple green mango ensalada, sisig, and inihaw na liempo.
On Fridays they always have acoustic singers, and when they asked the diners if there were any celebrations, my friends yelled “birthday!” pointing to me. The singers then asked them what song we wanted them to sing for me and that we could even have someone sing it with them. At this, we yelled for Gelle to do so. Which she did, after I asked it of her as a birthday gift. So she went up and sang a duet with the guy, what else but the most famous duet of all time in the Philippines, “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang.”

After dinner we walked to Esplanade Mall, which Chu wanted to get a picture of (don’t know why, since he’d already been there before), then on to Clarke Quay, where he and Rodel rode the Reverse Bungy. I’m adventurous, but you can never get me on one of those things. I’m not a big fan of heights, even more so of fast movement on heights. They took some time to “gather enough courage” to ride the thing, but they finally did, eventually.

We were supposed to go home, but Chu said he’d treat us to Swensens. So we went to Orchard, but it was already closed, so we ended up at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. It was a fun night.
