Yesterday, I got this in my email:
Keso’s wedding in Manila, where I am to be bridesmaid, is inclusive of those dates, so I decided to visit their site and buy myself tickets. I knew it was going to be difficult because based on previous experiences, the site has a tendency to be be really slow during promo days when all the Filipinos in the world would panic and gang up on it. But it was a lot more difficult than I expected. I started hitting the site from around 5pm and continuously until past midnight yesterday. But right after I had chosen the dates and hit continue, I would get an error message asking me to start over. Argh.
I wasn’t ready to give up, though. I put set my alarm to 4am and slept with Alexe (my macbook) right beside me on my bed. When the alarm went off three hours later, I didn’t have the strength get up. So I turned it off then woke up at 7am, promptly diving back into the site when I was alert enough to be able to move.
I was annoyed when I saw that there were no more promo fares available for the date I originally wanted to be in Manila, even though last night there were still free seats. Apparently there were people who were more determined than me. The date for my coming back to Singapore still had available promo fares, though, so I booked it first, and to my surprise, I saw that the total price was only S$7.25.
Pleased as punch, I started going through the other dates and finally saw a date that could also work out for me to fly out to Manila which still had promo fares available. I booked it too, and it cost me S$21. I guess Singapore taxes and surcharges are higher than Manila’s. Still, a total of S$28.25 for a roundtrip airplane fare from Singapore to Manila is so not bad at all!
I am so happy. Like my mom always says, “the early bird catches the worm” and “if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.”
So excited to see the Philippines again!
