Now I’ve Steve Jobs’s speech about how the dots only connect when you look back and I even had my own epiphany about how a picture only looks clear when you’ve stepped back and seen it from a distance instead of pressed up against your nose.
But when you’re not “there” yet, it’s not quite easy to feel comforted, especially when you can’t imagine how this particular experience is supposed to be beneficial to you.
Then my mother emailed me her own true experience:
I experienced being laid off several times in DPWH Bukidnon due to lack of funds and the last time was when my position as associate civil engineer in the maintenance section was abolished due to reorganization in 1975. When it happened, I was really very frustrated. But if that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have come to this city.
My best friend in college was assigned here. When I sent her a telegram to ask if there was a vacancy in Region IX. She answered and said to come here to apply, so I came over and applied, and when my transfer application was approved I came to work here. It became a blessing in disguise when 6 years after being here I met your dad and the the rest is history. No regrets.
God has always a reason why things happen. Let us just trust Him.
If my mom hadn’t been laid off, I wouldn’t exist. Talk about one major epiphany right there.
