We’re organizing a Christmas party for our friends here in Singapore. One of the agenda is the traditional Kris Kringle or Secret Santa or what we Zamboanguenos call manito-manita. Sending out the invite and getting people’s yes’s was easy enough, thanks to Facebook. My problem as the organizer was how to conduct the picking of names for the gifts since the participants are scattered all over the island. When AA jokingly asked me if I was going to create a program for that, I thought, hey, if I can’t, maybe someone can… or probably did. Minutes later, I had found SecretSanta.com.
It’s such a cool online facility. The administrator just needs to sign up, create a Secret Santa event, and input the email adds of all the participants. These guys will then get an email with a link leading them to their personal page that allows them to RSVP with a comment and their wish list, which they can update anytime. Once everyone has RSVP’d, the administrator has the option to generate a “guess list” and each person will get an email telling him who he is playing Secret Santa to. Awesome, huh?
