Spent half a day in Johor Bahru, Malaysia with Cate and Ervyn. We just went around City Square Mall because people in Singapore always warn that it’s kinds dangerous to roam around, that snatchers and robbers are aplenty. Better to be safe than sorry.
How to commute from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia: take a train to Woodlands then bus 950 to the immigration point in Johor Bahru.
We had a late lunch at Kenny Rogers and shared a plate of half a roasted chicken with three side dishes among the three of us. We were disappointed at how small the servings of the side dishes were and at the taste of the mac and cheese – it was so dry! The softdrinks were bottomless but the Coke was too sweet (I thought the taste was supposed to be standard?). The chocolate muffin had raisins, something Cate and I hate. And the service was awful. The waiters couldn’t understand simple English and were too slow. They didn’t even provide us with eating utensils till we asked for it.
We checked out a couple of bookstores where I discovered a Harry Potter book translated in Malay and bought a small leather-bound notebook like the ones I used to never be without when I was still a student. I also bought a couple of Chupa Chups (my favorite strawberries-and-cream and choco-vanilla flavors) at half the Singapore price.
A shoe shop was on 50% sale, so like your average girl, Cate and I succumbed to the temptation. Finally, I have a pair of purple sandals!
Blue Christmas was apparently this mall’s decor theme. Not bad, for a non-Christian dominated country.
If Ervyn has to have his jump shots, I have to have my concept shots. I should’ve done more, I know. We also forgot to make a video, I don’t know why.
Snack time in McDonalds. I was very excited when I discovered that they had twister fries here. It’s not yet the season for that in Singapore. Do you think it would be too weird if I constantly go cross-country just for these? When are they coming to Singapore ba kasi??
