I wanna read this.
I know, that’s a movie, but it’s based on a book. I’m enamored by fantasy books but movies, not so much. Take Harry Potter for example. I wasn’t impressed by the two movies I had seen before I finally got my hands on book one – then I read all the five books available then in a week, during work nights.
I’m interested in this story because I love Greek mythology – and even used to be obsessed with it. It started when I read The Immortal by Christopher Pike, which was about a girl who turned out to be the daughter of the greek god Apollo. I got so intrigued by greek mythology then that I spent a lot of time researching about them in our school library, scouring encyclopedias and book compilations of the myths – this was back when Google was not yet in vogue. Years later, when we took Greek myths up in Lit class, my obsessive phase was repeated.
I tend to be like that, by the way… obsessive, I mean. When something interests me, I research it to death. Thank God it’s easier now, since everything is accessible through my fingertips. Like right now, I just found out that Percy Jackson is not yet available for borrowing at the library but I can read its first chapter here. Why do I have a feeling that I’ll be hitting the bookstores soon?
