Junjun, my college classmate and Makati housemate, messaged me last Tuesday that he was going to be in Singapore the following day for only one night. I hurriedly organized a college reunion at – where else? – the famous Merlion Park. His flight from Jakarta, where he now works, got delayed so Maya, Gay and I decided to have dinner in Lau Pa Sat. We had Tapa King tapa, Mang Kiko’s liempo, and Hapag Kainan’s lechon paksiw.
After that we headed to the Merlion Park where we met up with Cate, Rodel and Monet at Starbucks. We waited quite a while for Junjun to arrive with Jinggo, another batchmate who is also apparently working here in Singapore. They got kind of lost but thanks to Cate’s phone instructions and our enthusiastic waving of arms across the street to get their attention, they eventually found us. We walked towards the Merlion and posed for some pictures along the way before heading to Makan Sutra where Jinggo and Junjun had a very late dinner. It was a rather short reunion but Junjun said he’d be back for a longer period in December, so we’ll have more catching up then. 🙂
