Cate won four tickets to watch Lenka perform live at Tab last night and I was so glad she decided to take me.
I actually didn’t know who Lenka was until Cate posted one of her songs – “Trouble is a Friend,” saying that it was the perfect song for accident-prone me.
How accident-prone? Just this month, the bus doors squeezed shut on my arms, the MRT turnstiles slammed closed on my hips, and I lost my balance in the bus and hit my ribs and elbow and had to be helped upright by a bunch of complete strangers.
And that’s just a tip of the iceberg.
So there we were, impatiently waiting for the program to start and thinking about bailing early so that we could make it to our dinner with Chi when suddenly, the guitarist stepped onto the stage. We exchanged a look, exclaimed “wow he’s handsome!” and instantly forgot about all our earlier complaints and stayed for the entire program. LOL!
my heart skips a beat… |
Lenka sang about four songs, such catchy ones that when they took a bow and left, everyone yelled for an encore and they went back to sing a couple more songs, including my song.
Lenka has such a nice voice but what I liked about her was her sense of humor which was apparent in her comments. She has such a pleasant aura.
However, most of the people were girls who were screaming for her guitarist, not her. My eardrums hurt a lot when these girls standing right behind us kept screaming for his number.
Nobody got his number that night but Tatsie managed to find out his name – Trey Lockerbie – and his Facebook fan page. So yeah, as Lenka’s song goes, our hearts definitely skipped a beat that night. LOL.
