After we got back to Singapore from Phuket, Drew and Kes had two days to spend in Singapore. They were both not first time visitors here, so we decided not to take them to the usual touristy places like Sentosa.
Since they’re both shopaholics, we decided to spend one day in Orchard. We started by having lunch at Din Tai Fung, one of the more popular chinese cuisine restaurants in Singapore. But of course Drew and Kes must try their famed xiao long bao or the dumplings with soup inside. We all loved that and the rest of the food, especially the vegetarian delight. And the fried rice was so moist and eggy. Everything was so delicious that our tummies hurt from being too full.

Then we walked around the mall and shopped in Sephora, Uniqlo and Watsons, where our tourists bought a bunch of stuff.

When we got tired, I suggested having dessert at Awfully Chocolate. We had to let them try Gelle and my favorite stacked chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of Hei chocolate ice cream on top. They both agreed that it was sinfully delightful.

We left Ion and headed to Luck Plaza where they bought souvenirs. Then we went to Somerset 313 where we shopped some more then had dinner at Food Republic. Kes once again had hokkien mee while Drew had pepper lunch. Gelle and I had our favorite spring chicken and I bought some satay and popiah (Vietnamese spring rolls) for our tourists to try.

While we were finishing our dinner, Kes noticed that there was a store that sold luggage one floor down. She had decided earlier that she would buy a big one because the only luggage she brought was a handcarry one and all the stuff she bought would not fit in it anymore. So she asked if she could leave us to check it out so we don’t have to wait for her and all.
Pretty soon she had wheeled out one luggage outside the shop, and she pointed it out to us, mouthing questions. We could still see her downstairs from where we were sitting in the food court, that was why. We couldn’t figure out what she was asking so I decided to go down to where she wash.
Turns out she was asking advice on what size luggage she should buy. The luggage was 50% off. Why don’t I buy one as well, she said? It’s your favorite color, she said.
Funny thing is, I had been thinking of replacing my handcarry luggage because the top handle was broken and I wanted one with four wheels so it would be easy to wheel into the plane with its narrow aisle and also I wanted it to be purple this time. I’m sure you know what happened next.

Our last shopping stop for the night was H&M.
The next day we woke up late. What, as if you expected us to wake up early while we were on vacation? Drew had to meet a friend for lunch, so I brought Kes home with me so I could change clothes before we met up with Drew at Raffles, where he had met his friend.
Kes and I had lunch at Lau Pa Sat. We were both not quite so happy with the food we bought. I had her try hor fun noodles; I had some sisig from Baliwag.
After that we rode a cab to Marina Bay Sands. We walked around the mall for a bit before heading outside.

After posing for pictures, we walked into Louis Vuitton, which had a gorgeous building right on the Marina Bay, and someone bought something. 😉
Kes couldn’t get enough of the beautiful view.

And the delicious food. I had them try Singapore’s most famous foods – chilli crab and cereal prawns.

After dinner we walked to Marina Square to have coffee in Starbucks. Then when it was 10pm we took the MRT to Raffles Place so we could go to 1 Altitude, the highest al fresco bar in the world.
As expected, they loved the place. And it was ladies’ night so we girls got in without paying for entrance fee. We had to pay for our drinks, though, but then Gelle decided to buy mojitos for everyone and a Filipino bartender decided to give us a free Cosmopolitan.
We drank and danced and laughed a lot but we had to leave at around 1am because Drew and Kes had an early flight back to Philippines the next day. It was a short but fun-filled vacation. Till next! 🙂
