Drew and Kes flew in to Singapore on April 19 and on their first night in, we all had dinner at Gelle’s home. Joey cooked adobo and it was so good, we ended up eating way too much.

The next day I fetched our tourists at their abode and brought them to the nearby Tampines mall for lunch. Kes just had to have her favorite Singaporean dish of all time, the hokkien mee.

After that we rode the MRT to get to a mall in Simei where we shopped in Daiso. Then we went back to Tampines mall and bought some Garrett popcorn before heading back to Gelle’s to change for our night time activity – Wicked the musical.
Now Gelle and I had already seen this before, but we loved it so much that we didn’t mind watching it again. Besides, I wasn’t too happy that first time because we were too far away from the stage. This time, we were three rows away, so I could clearly see the emotions on the actors’ faces. Elphaba’s voice was so beautiful that it brought me to tears several times.
For the second time I feel… wicked! 😉 |

After the show we decided to have dinner at the restaurant right across the theatre – the famous chef Mario Batali’s Pizzeria Mozza. We were lucky that the usherette (?) managed to find a free table for us just as we were about to walk away from the full restaurant.
We had a couple of pizzas and the pork ribs suggested by the Filipino waiter as well as a bottle of red wine that Drew bought as a treat for his band 2 promotion.
Funnily enough, our favorite dish didn’t turn out to be any of the pizzas, which is what the restaurant is supposed to specialize in, but the pork ribs. The meat pizza was pretty good, though not really as good as I expected for its price, and I wasn’t too crazy about the vegetarian pizza. The wine was light and fruity and gave us a buzz the way it should. I’m no expert on Italian cuisine but this wasn’t something memorable in my book. I guess I just expected more from this place.
