World famous Ihop pancakes (which you’ve probably seen in the latest Superman movie, haha!) has just recently made its way to Manila, Philippines. Since we don’t have them in Singapore, I wanted to try them. Drew said the waiting queue was ridiculously long but he was willing to try anyway, so off we went on the sunny Sunday afternoon that I was there for a short vacation.
We each decided to order a pick-a-pancake combo which is composed of your choice of same-flavored famous pancakes served with two eggs, hash browns, and your choice of bacon strips or two pork sausage links, worth P385. There were lots of flavors to choose from. How to choose???

My verdict? The pancakes were surprisingly dry, especially the chocolate one. No wonder it didn’t make their bestseller list. They tasted better after I had drowned them in syrup, of which there were three flavors, the butter pecan flavor being my favorite.

We had their refillable bestselling drinks. We didn’t ask for refills because they were not that delicious.
So overall, the food was okay, but I expected more. My fault entirely for having such high expectations because of all the hype, I suppose!

I'm so glad you got an Ihope but sorry it wasn't what you hoped. They are good, but sort of hit or miss.
Dee says
They're good, actually, I just had such high expectations.

I forgot to tell you to try their omelettes, crepes and milkshake. So good! Better than the pancakes. 🙂
Dee says
Tsk tsk, too bad! I love a good milkshake pa naman.

In the United States we are loaded with Ihops and sorry your experience wasn't so great, sounds like you got some old ones, which is wrong they should be made fresh to order and there is nothing worse than a dry pancake, I love a really good pancake.

Lucy from Lucy's Reality

Maybe I was just expecting too much. I love a good pancake too! It's my favorite breakfast food.

It's always disappointing when that happens (overseas branches of chains don't seem to translate very well most of the time).
Dee says
I know. Or maybe I just had higher expectations because of all the hype.
