Here’s a recap of my not-quite-epic week.
* Last Saturday, I celebrated my 9th bloggy birthday. I decided to hold a giveaway and it’s still open, so join in if you haven’t yet!
*I got a manicure and pedicure with my friends Jemma and Mildred at their flat. They found a lady who does home service for S$25. It usually costs $S30 or more for just a pedicure in salons, so this was a great deal. We all decided to get the same color for our pedi’s which I thought deserved a photo because… why not?
* Then Jems and I rushed off to watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier which made me promptly ruin my new manicure because I couldn’t help but chew on my fingernails at some of the really thrilling scenes.
* Then I rushed off to meet up with my friend Jeff to interview him for this Monday’s blog post. After the interview was done, I picked out a movie to watch on his TV and chose Clueless because I wasn’t in the mood for heavy stuff. As I watched this 90’s classic, I realized something – the standard of celebrity thinness really has drastically changed over the years. Alicia Silverstone was not as thin as some of the young actresses we have these days! Why couldn’t we have just stuck to the golden olden standards? Watching Cher and Josh’s love story gave me the warm fuzzies, still, and I wondered idly if there is an age limit to this reaction.
* On Tuesday I was so excited to watch the HIMYM finale, and it turned out to be an epic letdown. Boo. Hiss.
* I forgot to bring a scrunchie, so I twisted my hair and stuck it in place using a… chopstick. I somehow ended up inventing a new hairstyle, this pretty side ponytail. Too bad I couldn’t replicate it afterwards, try as I might! Hmph.
* While in the middle of month end madness, my heart started to hurt. And I don’t mean heartbreak, I mean it literally hurt. I should not have drank Redbull, instant coffee, and Starbucks iced caramel macchiatto within the same hour. Oops.
* Month end madness means very late nights, and as expected I had to skip some lunches and go on overtime for most of the week, leaving the office no later than 11pm. That isn’t something to complain about, actually, because I have a friend who had it worse – 3am. She was so tired that she actually cried while we were sneaking a quickie lunch in the pantry. 🙁
* I’ve tried to be a good girl by eating mostly soups and salads and avoiding soda. I discovered a very tasty grilled chicken caesar salad from Lemon and Herbs, and a really flavorful wanton soup from one of the hawker stalls in Signature.
* My friend Zenie sent me a picture of a letter I gave her back in 2005, saying, “TBT! Miss you Dee! Found this in my baul of precious gems (i.e. memories). I’m still glad until today that we took that risk and I took it with you! You know, I don’t think we aged at all. Our faces still look the same then and now. Hehe.” Aww I’m touched that she kept it after all this time. I told her I felt the same.
* We just got a new addition to our cable subscription – the movies package. I checked out Fox Movies play where you get to pick and play some movies at your own preferred timing without having to adhere to their fixed schedule, which my flatmates and I think is totes cool. TV has gone so far from the time when you had to check the cable guide to know what was on! The first movie I picked was Hunger Games. It’s my third time to watch it (I watched it twice in the cinema when it first came out), and I still cry when Prim’s name gets picked. I am such a serial weeper. Pfft. I still wish they had done Peeta justice in the movie, though.
* I’ll be spending the entire weekend at home in an effort to penny-pinch, which is #4 on my list of ways to save money. Thanks to the new cable channels, I’m gonna be fine! And besides, I have a ton of blogs I need to write for the A to Z challenge.
Hope you had a fab week!

CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO DEECODED! I can't believe I missed this. The fact you've been blogging for this long is just awesome.
I've been focussing on lots of salads lately (for the impending wedding date number 2!) and I have to say, I forgot how yummy they can be! I love Caesar salad, it's up there in my top 5.
Dee says
THANKS KATE THE GREAT! :D
Salads are delicious indeed! They just have a bad rep because they're healthy and usually healthy equals not yummy.
