Two Saturdays ago, I used my blogging earnings (my first Nuffnang cheque) to buy a Valore bluetooth speaker to use with my laptop. I had discovered how to connect it to our living room TV using the HDMI cable, but the sound was not loud enough.
I didn’t realise that you could use the TV’s own speakers when you connect the laptop using HDMI. My friend Nantoy explained this to me much later in the week. I am a prize idiot. [Facepalm]
Anyway, after I bought the speaker (which, by the way, was 50% off for new Challenger members) and tested it, I happily told Nantoy about it and said that he could now come over to our place for another viewing marathon. He had enjoyed the last one we had, when we watched movies on my tiny laptop screen because we couldn’t figure out how to connect it to the TV at the time, and had been asking my roommate Maybelle when we could do it again. He excitedly said yes and said he’d bring chips and wine.
Sometime during the week, Maya asked me about my plans for that day and asked if I wanted to hang out at Jeff’s place. I invited them both over to our place instead.
And so that was how I ended up with a mixed bag of friends in my flat that day. Jefrey made yummy aglio olio pasta, Maya baked a delicious moist chocolate cake, Nantoy and Maybelle ran to the grocery store to buy chips, soda, and wine while I called Domino’s to order pizza with our favorite cheese burst crust. And oh yeah, Jeff was really craving chicken for some reason so they bought a roasted chicken too.Â
We stuffed ourselves while having a movie marathon – wait… can you call it “marathon” when you watched only two?
Maya kept commenting on how beautiful Jennifer Lawrence is. There was this one time when she went on a bathroom break and JLaw was on, and I told the others, “Too bad Maya is missing this, I bet she’ll say, ‘Jennifer is so beautiful!'” Then she came back, saw JLaw and then uttered, “Jennifer is so beautiful!” Everyone cracked up.
Then Maya and Jeff had to leave ahead to catch the last MRT, but Nantoy stayed behind and we ended up talking on the couch until dawn. We didn’t need to turn on the TV to keep ourselves entertained after all! 😛
I’m really glad I rediscovered the viewing pleasure of watching on an actual television set. For years I had limited myself to my laptop, and now it’s like rediscovering an old flame! 😀
This post is part of the A to Z Challenge, a blog hop that goes through the alphabet for all the days of April except Sundays.Â

Purple twist speaker looks delightful. It adds an edgy, arty look to the room. Try and say aglio olio when you've had a few drinks…. impossible.
