Back in my old company in the Philippines, I was known as the “queen of concepts,” or the girl who loved to pose for “concept pictures” that involved me acting for a photo. So when I saw this groupon for tickets to the Alive Museum plus a river cruise and a Popeye’s voucher, I knew I wanted to go and asked my friends if they did so too. Luckily, they did.
Alive Museum is Korea’s original and biggest chain of Illusionary Entertainment Museum which recently opened a branch in Suntec City Mall. It means that is a museum full of displays that allow you to take pictures and be a part of it.
Here are some of my favourites (warning – lots of photos to follow!):
I ought to audition for a horror film. What do you think?
It was really fun but the place was kinda crowded, probably because we went on a Saturday afternoon. Usually there would be 3 or 4 paintings in one small area and you’d all be jostling for space, and sometimes some inconsiderate people would be standing right in front of your camera and you have to say “EXCUSE ME!” really loudly four times before they realize that and get out of your way.
There were helpful visual guides showing you how to pose for each illusion. There were also markers on the ground that indicate where the camera man should stand in order to take the perfect picture. I would suggest foregoing skirts and dresses because some illusions require lying on the ground or a lot of mobility and you don’t want to have an upskirt incident.
We went through the entire museum, which had different rooms separated by doors, in less than two hours.
The groupon we bought cost S$30 for a S$57 value, but if you’re just interested in the museum without any add-ons, the admission fee is S$25. Visit their website for more info.
