Last Sunday, I went to church then decided to go on an impromptu trip to the beach… by myself.
I took the MRT to Vivo City and took another train to Sentosa island. I was wearing a long, thick Sunday frock with high heeled cork wedges, something that is completely NOT suitable for the beach, but I didn’t care.
I happened to be wearing a scarf, so I took that off to spread on the sand to lie on. Then I took out my kindle and read The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes while sipping iced coffee with pearl jelly, my bare feet digging into the fine white sand.
Ahhhh… this is the life |
It was late afternoon, so the sun was not too hot, perfect for an Asian who hates getting tan. The cool sea breeze fanned me as I read, and that coupled with the comforting sound of the waves lapping against the shore made me feel so relaxed and almost lulled me to sleep.
Hashtag bliss.
Most people think I’m an extrovert, because I am incredibly chatty, the life of the party, the girl with a bajillion and one friends. But I am also partly introvert, in that sometimes, I actually prefer to be alone. Sometimes, I deliberately go off on adventures by myself, not because I have no choice, but because I like it that way.
Alone does NOT always equal lonely.
Sometimes I find solace in being solitary.
