So last May I was in the Philippines for the weddings of my friends Gay and Zenie and got totally lazy to blog about what I did there. So I thought I should probably do that now before I go on another travel and that just never gets blogged about ever.
So here’s what I ate in Metro Manila! It’s a ton of foodporn, so if you’re on a diet, I suggest you look away.

Wingstop was newly opened in Landmark, Makati. I don’t really like dry food, so I wasn’t too crazy about these flavours we chose

Tapsilog is short for tapa + sinangag + itlog (beef + fried rice + egg) and is a popular Philippine breakfast

Pandesal is a popular Philippine bun which tastes so good when it’s warm and toasted. I used to eat these for breakfast all the time.

Kilawin or Philippine ceviche. This is raw fish in vinegar and spices. The vinegar’s acidity “cooks” the fish. This is one of my faves!

Philippine KFC is the best because they have the yummiest gravy! It’s so good that it’s normal to hoard platefuls of it as you can see from this picture.

When I had my first job in Makati, I used to love Green Tomato’s pasta with anchovies in oil. I tried it again after 10 years and now I don’t like it anymore.

We were so excited to find a vendor selling green mangoes on the sidewalk. This is Indian mango so it’s not very sour, so we dipped it in vinegar with salt. Green mangoes are very popular in the Philippines, especially with women.

Drinks are very cheap in the Philippines! Compared to Singapore anyway. These cost only about 3 sgd each. In Singapore this would cost around 15 each.

My Chowking favourites – tofu, halo-halo, and siomai with toyomansi and chilli! Chowking is a Chinese fastfood.

I had heard so much about this famous Carmen’s Best artisanal ice cream so I searched for it and found that they were being sold in a shop right across where I was staying, so I bought a pint. It’s pricey but worth every peso! The ice cream is so soft, smooth, and creamy, and the salted caramel flavour was just perfect.
I will blog about the other things I did in the next few days.
Well…. Now i’m hungry!
Hope your friends had a lovely wedding xo
