I thought I’d share some of the funny things that have happened to me at work lately.
Invitation to the Ritz
At around 7pm one night, our VP suddenly sent an email to our distribution list, saying:
“Lunch tomorrow on me at the Ritz.”
Immediately I was suspicious because I know of some people who got these kinds of email from their teammate, only to find out later that said teammate’s PC had just been hijacked by someone else.
But another part of me thought that it is possibly true because who would dare hijack a VP’s computer?
Answer: an SVP.
It turns out it was our SVP who did it OMG. I can’t believe they still pull pranks like these at their level! 😂😂😂
What’s on the Internet Stays on the Internet
Over team dinner, I showed my teammates the picture I had found of our teammate who is based in Canada.
“WHOAAAA!!!” they said. “Is that really him? That’s impressive! How did you find it?”
“We were on a call when it somehow came up that he used to be a bodybuilder, so I googled his name and this popped up.”
It’s amazing (and scary) what you can find on Google about anyone these days.
Our SVP then said that when he was younger he made this website where he wrote a bunch of nonsense and it had his name on it.
As he got older he got desperate to remove it but he had already forgotten his password, so he couldn’t do so.
One day, he got an email saying that if he didn’t pay a certain amount, the website would be deleted, so he breathed a sigh of relief. Saved!
We all laughed and I said I’d try and google his name to see what pops up.
There were a lot of pictures, and when I showed them the youngest looking one, he gasped, “But that was the pic on the site I mentioned!!!”
It turns out the site was still there after all! LOL! 😂😂😂
“So all this time, everyone you have interviewed probably already saw that,” I joked.
“And every time I asked them, ‘What’s your biggest weakness?’ they were probably laughing inwardly and thinking, ‘I know yours! It’s that website!’” He added.
So I guess the moral lesson is to be careful what you put on the internet. You never know what can haunt you in the future when you’re already an SVP.
There’s Only One Building in Halifax
Colin: We have a friend who’s in Singapore.
Me: It’s not Gui, is it?
Colin: Nope. But we did live in the same building back home, though.
Me: Why does everyone seem to be living in the same building in Halifax? Gui said the same thing about Carly. Haha.
Colin: Haha, same building. I lived there too.
Me: I’m beginning to wonder if there’s just one building there.
Colin: Haha. I assure you there’s more than one.
Me and My Abbrvtns
Me: Hey Raw, QQ.
Raw: What’s QQ?
Me: Quick Question. What’s the icorp code you use for NS?
Raw: What’s NS? You and your abbreviations!
Me: OMG! It’s National Service!
Raw: Again! What’s OMG? Haha. NS should be absence w/o pay.
Me: OK! TY! TTYL!
Raw: Haha okay. OOTD.
Me: WTF? LOL.
Eyes Cream
So this conversation just happened over birthday ice cream:
V: In India we had ice cream without cream, called sherbet.
Me: In the Philippines we had the same thing but in plastic bags, called ice candies.
G: Well here, we have eye candies
(Everyone laughs.)
V: What? Oh… eye candies! I thought it was iCandies, you know, like iPhones, iPads. I can’t believe I missed the joke!
An Unfortunate Typo
My friend shared this email she and her team received from one of their contacts:
“I cannot get into the system either and I’ve shit down my computer also and still no joy.”
What an unfortunate typo!
Happy Friday, folks!

O that last one had me cracking up! We have sherbet in America but I think it still has some sort of dairy in it, either way my favorite is rainbow sherbet so tasty!

This was funny stuff and kudos for writing it in such a way as to keep the humor intact! I liked how V didn’t get the eye candy reference! And I also love that so many of your co-workers lived in the same building in Halifax! It’s not such a small place …for only having one building!
