Marcia Adams @ Tagaytay {Foodee}

To cap off my Tagaytay saga from last month’s vacation in the Philippines, Chi joined us for dinner. Just when Ngangi and I finally found our bearings after getting lost on our way out of Nurture Spa, it was Chi’s driver’s turn to get lost on their way to Marcia Adams; they ended up staring at the sign welcoming them to Nasugbu, Batangas. LOL. Well I guess the strong pouring rain and the dark evening skies made it difficult to see well. I didn’t even manage to see the landmark – an arch adorned with pineapples – which Ngangi asked me to help watch out for. Luckily, she did.

When we got to the place, there were servers waiting with large umbrellas to escort us down the steep cobblestoned pathway that led to the restaurant. Chi had warned me beforehand about this pathway and forebid me from wearing high heels, saying that it was difficult to navigate said path. “Not even with wedges?” I asked. “Not unless you want your feet to die,” was her reply. Okay, noted with thanks, ma’am! I was glad I had paid heed and worn flip-flops. Imagine how doubly hard it would have been now that the cobblestones were also slippery!

I forgot the cold once I stepped inside the house, and saw the the charming quaint decors. OMG it was soooo lovely! It was like being lost in a Fairy Tale cottage, like the house in Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

So cute, right??? (Ok Dee, please calm down.)
There were few people inside, probably because of the maddening rain. Chi says the place is usually full, that was why she had made reservations.
When Chi arrived, we placed our orders. Ngangi already had some orders in mind but Chi made her change it, saying that we shouldn’t all order the same thing so that I could try more of the dishes. LOL. Have you noticed how bossy Chi is? Haha. But she’s always right, though, so we always obey her. 😛
While ordering, we dug into bread and crackers with cheese and honey.
Bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese

Crackers with blue cheese and honey
Each main course order is actually a three-course meal inclusive of an appetizer and dessert, all of which are your choice. Per Chi’s orders suggestion, we ordered different mains and appetizers and desserts.

Appetizers

Tomato-based soup

Clear soup

Amalfi Prawns
Crispy and succulent prawns marinated in salt, pepper, olive oil,
parsley, coated with bread crumbs and pan-fried

All three were really good. I love tomato sauce based food and the first soup tasted a bit like spaghetti sauce which I love. The clear one was also flavorful even though it was made of clear broth. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Amalfi prawns were, because I usually don’t like breaded fried food. So if you ask me now, if I go back, which one would I order? I don’t know! They were all so good. 😮

Main Courses

Grilled Aromatic Pork (P700)
Massaged with aromatic spices and herbs. Moist, tender, and very tasty
Beef Tenderloin and Bacon Kebabs
Provencal-style beef tenderloin marinated in garlic and anchovies

Chi and Ngangi’s favorite here is actually the aromatic pork, so we got two of those while Ngangi ordered the beef one because Chi said she should try it as she loved bacon. Ngangi complied even though she had her heart set on the pork. Haha. But I’m glad she did because I ended up liking that way more than the pork one! I’m not usually a fan of beef, but I loved the taste of this one, even more than the pork. The latter was a tad too sweet for my taste.

Desserts

Panna Cotta with Lemon Sauce
Lemon Sponge Pudding

Chi and I each ordered a panna cotta while Ngangi decided to try the sponge pudding of her own volition this time, and not because Chi asked her to. 😛  They were both yummy, but I preferred the panna cotta.

We ordered half a carafe of red house wine too. Chi really loves their house wine. I’m not a fan of red wine per se, so I have no authority on that.

Mr. Adams, the owner, flitted about to ask customers if they were enjoying themselves in a friendly and unobtrusive way, adding a personal, homey feel that is absent in a lot of too commercialized restaurants.

I really enjoyed the ambiance and the food, it was the perfect setting for a “date” with people you love – cozy and quaint and intimate and warm. I miss dinners with these two! Waaahhh. I’m so glad I got to be with them again. Thank you so much for making time for me and bringing me here! 🙂
