Hello! It’s Filipino Food Friday once again!
When Gelle went to the Philippines last time, she met up with our friends Chi and Ngangi in Tagaytay. We’re all close friends, so I was very jealous, especially when I read Ngangi’s blog about it. Tse! LOL.
But I got my consuelo de bobo (a fool’s consolation) in the form of pasalubong or a care package, so it’s okay, guys! I was so happy when I got it. Here it is. Look!
My care package! Thank you, my thoughtful friends! 😀 |
The bayong bag and tissue holder are pretty useful. I’ve already mentioned before that Kopiko Kopiccino is one of my favorite instant coffees. Chi introduced it to me when we went to Taiwan last year. One other thing that she introduced to me was my favorite item in this pasalubong package: Pan de Manila Chocolate con Leche (hot chocolate with milk).
I was super happy when I saw that it was in a can because the last time she gave me some, they were in sachets. I have a thing for cans, I don’t know why! I would almost always want to buy something if it comes in a cutie little can, and this definitely fits the bill!
And the product inside comes in a resealable pouch, so the can is very reusable! (OMG what is it with me and cans? Help!!)
But of course, the can isn’t actually my favorite thing about it (yes, though you may find that hard to believe now) but what’s inside. It’s a 3-in-1 powder mix composed of spanish chocolate, milk and muscovado (unrefined brown) sugar.
Take two tablespoons of the chocolatey powder and mix it with hot water and voila! – happiness in a cup! ^__^ It’s best to sip it on rainy mornings or when the office aircon is way too cold. Here’s a tip: it’s yummier if you don’t put too much water.
Certified Dee-licious! 😛 |
Sometimes, I eat it for breakfast. No, not in its pure form, though I used to do that with Milo and Ovaltine. I mix it with a bowl of oatmeal and tada!!!! – I have champorado! 😀 Champorado, by the way, is chocolate rice porridge. My version is a lot easier to make than the real thing, and healthier too, because it has oats instead of rice.
Oatmeal + hot choco = instant champorado! 😀 |
I don’t think they sell Pan de Manila chocolate con leche in Singapore (sad face), so it really makes the perfect pasalubong! Hint! Hint!
