Christmas is the biggest of big deals in the Philippines, and most Filipino families celebrate it with “noche buena” or Christmas eve dinner.
Luckily for me, even though I’ve been single and living oceans away from family for years, I have never had to spend it alone, because I always have friends to spend it with.
This Christmas eve was no exception, when my friends Nantoy, Monica, and Dred welcomed me into their home so we could celebrate it over a delicious home cooked meal made by Monica.
Dred also bought us some bottles of my favourite royal pudding from Paris Baguette.
And what was my contribution, you ask? The “instagrammable decors” in the background, of course!
As well as the camera that took those photos. 😊
After we ate dinner, a couple of Nantoy and Monica’s friends arrived, and after they ate, we sang karaoke, played cards, the category game, and finally somehow ended up playing Pictionary.
Pictionary is more fun to play thanks to advanced technology – iPad’s notepad as drawing board (so you can take advantage of the different colours), and different smart phones for timer, scorer, and titles (thanks, IMDB app!).
But the icing on top of the cake (or the star on top of the Christmas tree?) was how hilarious the game is when played by a bunch of guys who are all equally bad at drawing.
We only had one category: hollywood films. See if you can guess some from our drawings below:
I almost died laughing from drawing #4. I still don’t know how Nantoy managed to guess the correct title based on that! 😂
But then again, Dred also couldn’t figure out how I managed to guess #1 based on her drawing, which Nantoy thought was an omelet. 😂
The answers are below:
- The Martian
- Maze Runner
- Guardians of the Galaxy (the drawing is obviously Groot)
- The Matrix (I tried to draw the green lines that Neo could see, and that’s supposedly sunglasses on his face LOL)
- How to Train Your Dragon
- Chucky (we didn’t get this because of the lack of bright orange hair)
- Maleficent (note how I tried to draw attention to the Jolie lips)
- The Wolf of Wallstreet
It was a really fun night! We need to do more Pictionary next time!
Bonus: You absolutely need to watch this hilarious Pictionary clip from Big Bang Theory. 😂
