Arlyn is back in Singapore after a two-month business trip in Manila, and with her back, the trio is once again complete and back to cafe-hopping! 😊
Our first cafe of 2016 was Armar’s choice – the rustic Carpenter and Cook in Bukit Timah.
“Wow, that’s far,” two different friends of mine commented when I mentioned where I was headed. I suppose it is, but then no cafe is too far where this trio is involved. It really isn’t that difficult to get there, though. You just have to take the downtown line MRT to Beauty World.
Yes, I’m not kidding. That really is the name of the station.
See? I told you!
It’s a bit of a walk from there, but we soon found the place and thought it was really lovely! I fell in love with the decors.
Even though the place was far, it was packed, much to our surprise. Armar was a bit miffed that we couldn’t get a table right in front of this wall:
We were lucky that we managed to snag this small sewing table:
There were a lot of pastries on display, a lot of which were named after Alice in Wonderland items.
Here’s what we ordered:
I ordered a jar of chocolate with sea salt cookies partly because it was recommended on HungryGoWhere and partly because the jar was really cute. 😜
The cookies are really good, though! The sweet chocolate flavour is contrasted with the salt, which is really great. I highly recommend it! As for the lemon pastries they ordered, they were okay, too, but not really extraordinary.
Then I decided to order the exact same flavour of frappuccino because I like chocolate, okay?
It was really delicious AND had a pretty presentation, so I had absolutely no regrets!
Then just when we were on our way home, it suddenly rained, so we got stuck and had to sit outside to wait it out.
We eventually had to book a cab to come pick us up. LOL.
I enjoyed our first cafe of 2016. Good choice, Armar! And welcome back, Arlyn!
