My friend Chi and her husband Punch were in Singapore for a long weekend so I met them for a couple of the days they were here.
On Friday night, we met up at Changi City Point near my office where there’s an Adidas outlet store. After buying bargain pure boost shoes, we headed to East Coast Lagoon Food Village.
We ordered spring chicken, sambal stingray, fried rice, and char kway teow. My faves were the chicken and stingray. The chicken is like the best I have ever tasted! It’s so juicy, with crispy skin. I definitely need to make a note and go back! Chi ordered it from Chong Pang Huat.
Below is a picture of us enjoying the food before later complaining that we were in food coma.
We also had some Ace cider and it was really good! Not too sweet and not too beer-like, just perfect.
After our meal we headed to Parkway Parade so we could do a bit of shopping. We ended the night at Starbucks.
The next day we met up at Ikea Alexandra with Chi’s sister Chiara and her boyfriend. Chiara is my flatmate so we headed there together. There was a funny moment when she didn’t realize I was coming and had already booked the Grab. She told me it was arriving in 3 minutes and I wasn’t ready yet but somehow managed to get dressed, sunscreened, and out the door so quickly. ๐
When we got to Ikea we ordered late lunch and daim pie with coffee.
While most people go for Ikea meatballs whenever they’re in Ikea, I always go for their fat juicy chicken wings. ๐
We wandered around Ikea and bought some stuff before heading across the street to Anchorpoint where we discovered a Fitflops outlet store that sold Fitflops at ridiculously low prices. I ended up buying two pairs at only S$20 each. They’re normally over S$100 or even S$200.
We weren’t done shopping so we headed to Orchard to buy Garrett’s popcorn and rummage in Sephora. I put on a full face of makeup while in there. ๐
After that we took the train to Jalan Besar and walked to Swee Choon Tim Sum Restaurant. We managed to get a good table indoors.
It was my first time there and I really loved all the delicious and affordable food that we ordered. If I had to pick favourites, it would be the shrimp fried rice, xiao long bao, and the spring rolls.
I also ordered this coconut pudding but while it looks pretty, it tastes just like coconut milk in pudding form and without anything else mixed in it, it’s not really that special.
After dinner, we walked over to Mustafa. I know this place is famous for bargains, but in my 10 years in Singapore this was my first time to set foot in here because I was always afraid of the crowds. It actually isn’t that bad and we did end up getting a lot of bargains. Among all of us, we managed to get good deals on Olay regenerist micro-sculpting cream, Moist Diane conditioner, Doc Martens shoes, etc. Some items were cheaper than online shops, even!
We ended the night shortly after witnessing a scary man angrily slam a cab door in front of us. Why so angry, dude? ๐
I am really glad I got to catch up with Chi and Punch. ๐
