I met up with my blogger friend Emma (Adventures of a London Kiwi) when I was in London last May. This was our third time to meet. Our first time was in London back in 2016. We met at Sourced Market, where I got my first taste of my favourite Bread Ahead doughnuts.
The next time we met was in 2017 on my turf, Singapore. We headed to a cafe called Platform 1094, which had a magical theme, kinda like Harry Potter, but not that to avoid paying royalties. 😆
Feya At Marble Arch
For our third meet-up, Emma chose Feya, a pretty cafe at Marble Arch. On the way there, I saw this giant crown, so I had to take a selfie, of course.
The cafe was beautifully decorated, with lots of plants on one side and colourful murals on the walls. We dared to order the pink pasta, scared that it would only look pretty but not taste pretty, if you know what I mean, but it was surprisingly delicious! The sandwich and truffle fries were good, too.
Hyde Park
After a hearty chat and meal, Emma graciously offered to give me a tour of the nearby area. We walked through the beautiful Hyde Park. She said that this was where Queen Elizabeth’s funeral had been held.
When we exited the park, we walked past Dorchester Hotel. Emma said they decorated it the same way that it had been for the Queen’s coronation in 1953, to celebrate King Charles’s coronation.
Buckingham Palace
We then walked to the Buckingham Palace. This wasn’t my first time, I had also been here before in 2016 and had even been able to go inside, which is something they allow only a few weeks a year. I was in luck.
Unfortunately they don’t allow photos to be taken inside, so all I have to show for it is this ticket.
Such a shame, because it was so gorgeous in there. You know the sets from The Crown series? It’s exactly like that. So opulent.
So I settled for taking pictures outside. My then teammate Guohao had insisted I take a photo of myself with a London choco roll (a Singapore snack) while in London, so I obliged.
Back then I was by myself, so all my pictures were selfies. This time around, I had a photographer, so I had nicer photos! It was a fun coincidence that my dress matched the colour of the tulips outside.
But while Emma was taking my photo against the gate, a van drove towards toward her and for a moment, I was afraid that I was going to get her killed while taking my photo.
“Worth it!” she joked, after I told her about what went through my mind, once she had gotten out of the way in time. Whew!
I’m really glad Emma met up with me, she’s really nice! It’s fun to make friends over the internet.
