Yep. After getting retrenched last May, I finally got a new job, a better one to replace the old. Now isn’t that totally awesome? Everything happened so fast, too, though it was really slow at the beginning. I had been sending off resumes for three weeks without getting any interested employers or headhunters, and was beginning to worry about it, when the next sequence of events happened as I recorded them in my diary:
June 1
Just minutes ago, I got a call from a girl who said that she wanted to call me tomorrow for a 30-minute phone interview! O-M-G!!!!!! I get a foot in the door! This is what I needed all along!
I am so happy and excited and nervous all at once!!!
June 2
I’m done with my phone interview. Shortly after that, Jennice called back and told me I will have a face to face interview. She gave me three date options and I chose tomorrow. Better get it over with as soon as possible, right? 🙂
June 3
I think my interview with Iza the Finance Manager went well this afternoon, because after we talked, she said she was gonna look around for her boss so that he could talk to me. When she found him, he told me that while he wanted to talk to me for 15-20 minutes, he needed to be in a meeting, so could I come back tomorrow at 8am? I agreed, of course. Nerves all around. Gotta sleep early tonight!
June 4
I set my alarm to 530am and woke up at 7. WTF?!? I dashed out of the house without taking a bath, glad that I had already pressed my white blouse the night before. I took a cab. Thank God it got me to Shell House at 20 minutes before 8 otherwise I would have killed myself. Anand had been very clear that this was his only free slot today.
I had to shell out 17 bucks for the fare, though, but I think it was worth it because at the end of the interview, when he asked me if I had any questions and I gave him my usual “Um… when can I expect to hear from you? (laugh)” he replied with “Today.” Gulp.
Yesterday when I had asked the same of Iza she had replied that they were in the middle of the recruitment process and would be able to make a decision in 1-2 weeks. And now this. That’s good news, right? I hope so!
(later)
Yey! I got the job! I got the call while the Heering event that Gelle and I were attending was just starting. I was beginning to worry that they had changed their mind because Anand had clearly said that I would hear from them today and it was beyond COB already and I still got no call. I should not have doubted the word of the FM’s boss, though.
This is such a happy day! And as Gelle pointed out, the fastest job offer ever – all within four days! 🙂
The Law of Attraction works. Believe me. ^_^
