Someone is Obsessed with Eyeshadow

For my birthday last year, my friends Maya, Cate, Tatsie and Rodel gifted me with what I first thought was a wallet but which opened out to be a set of makeup brushes. According to my makeup artist friend Rome, Suesh is a good brand for brushes, and the ones she brought with her when she vacationed here was of the same brand. They’re certainly very nice to use (better than my Avon ones). My favorite is the slanted brush (third in the pic below) which I use to define my eyebrows and the bottom part of my eyes.

Now I’ve had my cheek stain then eyelash curler then defined eyebrows phase, but eversince I got these wonderful set of brushes, it’s been all about eyeshadow.

all the eyeshadows I currently own.

I got so obsessed with them that I’ve been studying how to apply them from YouTube. My favorites are the ones by Michelle Phan. YouTube tutorials on how to apply makeup are very helpful, but hers are the most aesthetically pleasing. Unlike the others out there that are just vlogs that have the author videotaping herself while she puts on makeup and talks at the same time, Michelle’s videos are a work of art with voiceover, music, and artful introductions and transitions.

So far I’ve only tried to follow one of her videos, though – her smoky eyes tutorial. I used the Elf quad in the picture above and here is the output:

I think it’s a good start. My ultimate dream? To achieve this look on myself:

Taylor Swift in Teardrops on My Guitar video, where I first saw and loved her.
