I watched Up in the Air tonight. It wasn’t an outstanding movie, but it was nice enough, made me laugh at some parts and cry in others. It’s a movie about life, about pursuing your passions or goals, about lifestyle choices we make and how the things we think are good are not necessarily so and how bad things that happen to us can be opportunities for something great. I could see a little bit of myself in more than one character. I could relate to Clooney’s character in how he’d rather have the jet-setting lifestyle and not settle down ever because sometimes, I want that life – no kids, no hubby, just myself to think about and answer to. I could also relate to the fired people, having been retrenched myself, and how indeed that moment can actually be a blessing in disguise.
My favorite part was this:
Ryan: You know why kids love athletes?
Man: ‘Cos they screw lingerie models?
Ryan: No, that’s why we love athletes. Kids love athletes because they follow their dreams.
Man: Well, I can’t dunk.
Ryan: No, but you can cook.
Man: What are you talking about?
Ryan: Your résumé says that you minored in French culinary arts. Most students, they work on the fryer at KFC, but you bussed tables at Il Picador to support yourself. Then you get out of college and then you come and work here. How much did they first pay you to give up on your dreams?
Man: 27 grand a year.
Ryan: And when were you going to stop and come back and do what makes you happy?
Man: Good question.
Ryan: I see guys who work at the same company for their entire lives, guys exactly like you. They clock in, they clock out, and they never have a moment of happiness. You have an opportunity here, Bob. This is a rebirth. If not for you, do it for your children.
Lovely picspam about the movie here.

gogogo! medyo di ko lang nagustuhan yung analogy nya when it came to people though. na parang he is purposely not letting people into his life because baggage sila.

I saw the trailer for this movie and I will definitely watch it as well. Sometime this week. :)

I love the part where George Clooney's character was making a speech about putting all the minor and major stuff in your life in one suitcase..so true..
