From LV to Crispy Pata

As usual, it started out as an email. “Guess what Joey got Gelle for their first anniversary! He really saved up for it. He’s so sweet!” I said.

“LV?!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!! What kind?? Joey’s such a great gifter!!!!!!!!” Chi guessed correctly. I was amazed at how she knew. I mean, I probably wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t seen the pretty Speedy for myself the day before.

“OMG I cried here in the office!” said AA. “How sweet of him! If he were super rich and he gave you an LV, the impact wouldn’t be that big, but because he really saved up to get you one, it’s super sweet!”

As if that wasn’t enough, Gelle went on to say that last night when she got home, there was a bicycle waiting for her at home. She had just learned how to ride one and knowing how happy that made her, Joey bought his colleague’s extra one for her. Awww!

I don’t know how Joey’s sweet gifts somehow led us to the topic of food which led to Chi inviting us to dinner. We were looking forward to having crispy pata in Bonifacio, a new Filipino restaurant near Outram, but it was closed due to Labor Day. Hmph.

Luckily, Chi knew another place that served crispy pata even though it was not a Filipino restaurant: Le Chasseur. It’s right across Central mall in Clarke Quay. So off we went.

“Crispy pata” is really what it says on the menu. Their version is so tender yet crispy. Comes with toyomansi and liver sauce for dipping.

We also love their famous claypot rice which has a smoky taste, and I cannot have enough of the chicken cutlets and the zesty chili sauce.

And here we are. That’s yellow watermelon shake I’m having, not dalandan. Yellow watermelon tastes just like the red one, in case you didn’t know.

We had coffee in Starbucks before heading home and had a funny moment pertaining to jackets. But it’s the sort of thing that’s only funny if you’re there, so I won’t even attempt to relate it here.

I really enjoyed our impromptu outing though!
