Our favorite peri-peri chicken has taken its roost in Singapore. We loved it so much that we ate it for two meals during our Kuala Lumpur vacation last year.
So when Gelle announced that there was now a branch in Bugis Junction, Chi made a last minute invite for dinner there. And by last minute, I mean it was already 6pm and I was just wrapping things up in the office when she suddenly called and asked “Nando’s?”
One hour later, we were all seated inside, thanks to Gelle and AA who arrived earlier and joined the long queue outside the restaurant. It’s that popular.
The menu was exactly the same as in Kuala Lumpur. We each had the peri-peri chicken (mild spicy) with two side dishes (corn!) and a glass of sparkling apple juice with apple bits and a wedge of lemon which some people ate with a dash of salt (tequila??).
It cost us about S$21 each, more than our usual budget for meals, but it was worth it. Now Tinkerbell can fly again because she has happy thoughts from the happy food. Hehehe.
After dinner, we headed downstairs (Nando’s is located on the ground floor) to J Co Donuts and Coffee, AA’s favorite donut shop. Chi was very happy to discover the abundance of cozy couches that came with the much cheaper coffee (compared to Starbucks).
I ordered their smallest cup of hot chocolate for S$4.50 and was pleasantly surprised when it was handed to me in a huge mug with a free glazed donut (which is melt-in-your-mouth good). I was even more thrilled when I took my first sip – it tasted like a liquefied chocolate donut. “Or Sustagen!” Chi exclaimed after I made her taste it too.
And somehow that one word paved the path for that night’s topic – the good old school days. We learned a lot of funny anecdotes from each other’s childhood. It was a successful night out yet again.
