We loved the it! We laughed, cried, and fell in love with the lines, the couples and the beautiful Italian landscapes. It’s a bit too cheesy for guys, though, so I’d only recommend it for girls who love giddy romantic movies.
The story: Sophie goes on a vacation in Verona, Italy, and finds a 50 year old unanswered “letter to Juliet” in the fictional lovers’ Verona courtyard. With the approval of the secretaries of Juliet, she sends a reply to its writer, Claire, who gets so touched by her response that she sets off for Verona to find her true love that she left fifty years ago, with her grandson Charlie in tow. Sophie meets her and asks if she can help her on her quest, much to realist Charlie’s annoyance. As they drive all over Verona to go through a bunch of Lorenzos in the hope that one of them is Claire’s, two other people find love like 50 years ago.
Love love love this amazing soundtrack.
Favorite Lines:
‘What’ and ‘if’ are two words as nonthreatening as words come. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: ‘What if?’
I don’t know how your story ended. But I know that if what you felt then was love – true love – then it’s never too late. If it was true then why wouldn’t it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart.
I don’t know what a love like that feels like… a love to leave loved ones for, a love to cross oceans for… but I’d like to believe if I ever felt it, I’d have the courage to seize it. I hope you had the courage to seize it, Claire. And if you didn’t, I hope one day that you will.Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.It’s not supposed to be that way. We’re supposed to want to be with each other all the time.
How many Sophies do you think there are on this planet? Don’t wait 50 years before you find her.
