Joey and Gelle had an appointment with Veluz and their other wedding suppliers, so they had to leave after breakfast. Meanwhile, Drew and I walked over to Makati Shang to hand some stuff to Kes before heading back to the Penn to check out of our rooms, stash our stuff at the concierge and take advantage of more of Drew’s coupons – this time, free lunch buffets at Escolta, one of the hotel’s restaurants.
Despite my size, I don’t really eat that much, and Drew and I lamented that we were both lugi when it comes to buffets. I just had bite-sized pieces of the food that I fancied, only loading up on rellenong bangus and lechon kawali.
I made up for it on the desserts though – I took 6 kinds. The fondue, leche flan, chocolate mousse and creme brulee gelato were really good! I also ordered my favorite drink – buko shake (coconut smoothie), but it was really expensive. Oh well.
After pigging out, we headed to the mall so that I could do some shopping. I needed to buy pasalubong and clothes – I had run out of things to wear.
We then decided to watch Inception at Greenbelt 3. There are so many favorite things in that sentence: Inception, a movie I had been looking forward to for months; Greenbelt 3, my favorite cinema; and Drew, my favorite movie buddy. While I was still living in Makati, he and I were always each other’s default movie dates, especially for those movies that nobody else wanted to watch. We watched anything and everything. Oh I miss him so! I have no one like him in Singapore. 🙁
Anyway, Inception was one awesome movie. It merged good actors, stunning visual effects, and a mind-boggling storyline that gets you thinking. Especially the ending! That does it, I am so watching all movies starring Leonardo DiCaprio or directed by Christopher Nolan from now on!
Here is the complete synopsis while below is the plot summary:
Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.
To those who were a bit confused by the dream levels, check this out, found it from this site:
I am pretty sure that the ending was a dream. Why do the kids look exactly the same? Shouldn’t they have grown up, or changed clothes or positions, at least? Maybe Cobb dreamed the entire thing and his wife was right – they needed to kill themselves to climb one more level higher to reality.
It’s a definite must-watch! Now one of my favorite movies of all time. 🙂
