We won invites to the Linkin Park A Thousand Suns party at Scape so that was where we headed off to yesterday noon. I was entitled to a guest, so when Ivy texted in the morning to ask if I had any plans, I invited her along.
I headed back home after doing Yves’s makeup to change. Cate thought I wasn’t coming back so when she opened our bedroom there and saw me inside, my unexpected appearance gave her quite a scare. LOL.

When we got there, we registered and got slapped with wristlets before heading inside. The event turned out to be a launching of Linkin Park’s newest album, A Thousand Suns.
It was hosted by DJ’s Shan and Ross and a couple of contests were played out – a battle between two bands and a song remix contest.
They also showed some interview clips of Linkin Park as they explained their newest album. It turned out to be quite funny due to the reaction of one of the guys to the other guy’s narrative.
Anyway, we cheered for the Malaysian band because the vocals of the Singaporean band was not good. Her voice kept on getting washed out and the male backup vocals was a lot better. The Malaysian band won. Woohoo. As for the remixes, Tatsie correctly predicted who would win.

Love these two. Funny interview! |
After the show was done, we were each handed a goodie bag that held a t-shirt, a CD, a poster and a Mark Ecko $50 voucher.
Then we had some refreshments outside so that we could rest our feet. I had a kiddy size cup of Marble Slab ice cream while Ivy had a bubble tea and the sisters shared some potato wedges and a drink from Ice Rock.
Then since it was our first time in the Scape mall, we decided to walk around and check out the place. It was a really nice cozy mall that was not too crowded because it’s not at the Orchard main road. We fell in love with the look of some of the stores.
We also went out to the veranda and we all got mini heart attacks when we stepped to the side and the floor suddenly dipped and we felt as though we were gonna fall off the balcony.
Willie Wonka flavor – I liked the Reese’s one better. But the waffle cone is great. |
I love the name and the look of this place. Almost got tempted to buy something. Anything. |
White Dog Cafe – we all fell in love with its quaint design |
We eventually run out of mall to look at, so we left and headed to the main Orchard Road.
“Look, free drinks again,” Cate laughingly pointed out to me as we were crossing towards Somerset. The previous Saturday, a group of people were giving out canned Jasmine tea drinks at that particular corner. The drink tasted like sampaguita (Jasmine in English) blossoms, and let’s just say that we don’t like the experience of drinking flowers. But I was so thirsty that I drank down the entire thing.
This time, though, I saw that they were giving our Sjora drinks. I had tried this drink before and knew that it was delicious. When we got there we were given small cups to try but a photographer told us that if we posed for a picture, we would all get a full cup for free. So we queued up. I mean, who are we to pass up the opportunity for a free delicious drink and a photo op? Haha.
There was a beach backdrop and we had props at our disposal. So we put on leis and straw skirts and Tatsie played with a beach ball. Click!
After that, each one of us was given a free drink and a printed out copy of the picture. We loved it!
And we loved the drink too! It comes in two flavors, by the way, both of which I love – mango peach and tropical pineapple.
We sat down on a bench by the sidewalk to rest our feet and enjoy our drinks and we saw Ervyn heading our way. What a coincidence! We told him to get his picture taken too. What a great marketing campaign!
When we were done drinking, we walked down Orchard Road and gawked at some of the new sculptures they had put up. Then we went into Takashimaya and gawked at Louboutins and a few other designer items.

I can’t copy this for a concept picture ever. |
Ervyn’s dream |
Aww… how sweet! |
A shoeholic friend told her boyfriend: “When you plan to propose, get me a Louboutin instead of a ring.” |
We ended up in Lucky Plaza where Ervyn bought ingredients for a mango float he was planning to make. My feet were still killing me then so I suggested having dinner in Jologs. It was Ivy’s first time there.

We should have ended the day there but we walked around some more, this time in Wisma Atria. When we finally headed towards the MRT, complaining about how exhausted we all were, Ivy surprised me when she smiled so happily and said, “So happy!” But you know what, she’s right. I was so drained that I fell asleep the moment I got home but we did have fun!

I’ve been trying to exercise and drink more tea everyday. With http://www.geocities.jp/family_hong_kong/English/index.htm and these flowering teas, it’s been a breeze!

Up til now, Jasmine Flower is my favorite!
