Yves invited her Singapore-based close friends to celebrate her birthday with her last Saturday at Sapphire in Jewel Box at Mt Faber. It’s a restaurant located at the top of a mountain so it has a breathtaking view.
We were just supposed to have snacks that ended up in dinner. The food was good, but a tad expensive. I suppose one is paying for the location, not just the food.
We ordered all three of their three pasta dishes available and all agreed that the pesto was the besto. Seriously, I usually hate pesto, but this one was really yum.
We discreetly ordered a birthday “cake” for Yves and it was served with a candle. Those two candle-like things next to the cake are not really candles, they’re actually cleverly disguised bulbs. So cute!
Here is a picture of everyone. It was my first time to meet all the guys – err – gays. They’re so hilarious! The waitress even told Sash (the one next to Yves): “You’re so cute!” because the way he ordered was so funny.
Initially, that was all we had planned, but then Ching suddenly thought of going to Azzura, a beach bar in Sentosa island. So off we went. It’s my first time to go. We trekked about a mile before getting there, and we decided to shod off our shoes and walk in the sand instead of the road. There’s just something so nice about feeling the sand beneath your bare feet. The entrance fee is a tad expensive at S$30 (it does come with one free drink though) but it turned out to be worth it. There were tables that one could pull out to become lounge chairs and their barbeque chicken is really delicious. We all wished we had been more prepared and that we had brought swimwear so that we could take a dip in the indoor pool. Dancing barefoot in the sand with all those flashing lights was a surreal experience. My only gripe is with their song choices – I prefer mainstream dance songs to house techno stuff.
For some reason, I really look like a vampire here. Where did those fangs come from??
I had a major major blast indeed. Happy birthday Yves!
