Today is my hometown’s Fiesta Pilar. It’s not as festive as the ones in other cities, actually. We just usually spend it eating in other people’s houses, when we’re invited, of course. My most memorable one was back in first year college when our PE teacher required us to dance for a street parade. We had to dress in a Mexican ruffled dress in bright pink, yellow, green and orange with our heads wrapped up in a scarf, our ears adorned with bright pink feather earrings, hands shaking a pair of maracas. Too bad I don’t have a picture, but it was probably something like this:

Less the fruits and not so midriff-baring though.
So anyway, since we’re all from the same hometown in our flat, we decided to celebrate in our own wee way. Boom surprised us all by whipping up a dinner of buttered shrimps with asparagus. So yum! Boom is such a great cook. Then Cate started clamoring for ice cream (like she always does, may I add), so I shelled out the money to buy my favorite Dreyer’s ice cream which Ervyn bought in Fairprice. He contributed a tub of Nestle ice cream too. Happy tummies all around.
So even though I had an uber stressful day at work (the kind where I was so thirsty and I badly wanted to pee at the same time but I couldn’t move because I was glued to my seat all afternoon), all the stress just melted away once I got home. Yes, home. 🙂
