CozyCot’s 9th Birthday Bash

A couple of days ago I read about CozyCot’s 9th birthday bash from Singapore’s top blogger, Xiaxue. The event seemed interesting plus I wanted to see Xiaxue in person, so I hurriedly signed up and told my friend Maya to do so as well. See, Maya has always been my buddy in all things related to beauty and fashion and just plain vanity. LOL.

The event was supposed to start at 6pm but we got there around 7 already because we went shopping in Orchard, had dinner (where we spent some ten minutes hopelessly searching for a table in Takashimaya’s crowded food court), and had to walk all the way from Takashimaya to Orchard Hotel. When we eventually got there, we were asked to register with the email adds and passwords we had used to sign up for the event. Then we were each handed an activity card. We had to drop by several booths and get stamps from all of them in order to get a goodie bag in the end. Oh goody! “Come on, Maya, let’s go! Isn’t this exciting?” Yeah I know. Sometimes I act twenty years younger.

The first stop was the photo wall. Some photographers took our picture against a Magazine cover-like backdrop. We later collected a Canon Selphy photo printer copy of this picture at one of the booths. We didn’t win the freshest face award (or whatever) but we do look really happy, don’t we?

We dropped by all the booths where we were given flyers or demos about products. My favorite stop, however, was the designer bags sale. I have wanted to buy a Coach bag for a long time now and when I saw their discounted prices and that I could get them on 12 months installment on a Citibank card, I knew what my Christmas gift to myself was going to be. And told Maya she can do so as well, much to her delight. I fell in love with a purple Coach bag but decided to look around for something more practical. But none of the more formal looking Coaches or Kate Spades appealed to me and after walking around and looking at all the bags more than twice, my heart was still in that first bag I liked. Why fight it, right? So here’s my first ever designer bag:

I wasn’t able to take a picture of Maya’s bag but it’s also Coach and it’s made of glossy grey leather and screams “practical” from all angles, a much wiser buy than mine, may I just say. After paying for our choices, we made our way back downstairs to finish collecting all our stamps.
Once done with that, we queued up for the instant win thingie, where you drop your completed card in a fish bowl and touch a screen to see if you’ve won a goodie bag or a goodie bag plus a bonus prize. I won the latter. The “bonus prize” turned out to be three purple scarves from Winter Time. Nice, but where would I wear them? Is this a sign? 😮  It’s funny, though, that they just had to be purple.

After collecting our goodie bags which turned out to be paper bags filled with toothpaste and beauty product samplers and vouchers, we turned our attention onstage where celebrity guests were being interviewed about beauty topics. And there is Xiaxue, the reason why I came! She’s so tiny in person!

The program ended and on our way out, I found lots of these roses printed with CozyCot’s name. Cute eh?
It was a really fun event, though. Maya asked me to always invite her when I hear of these things. But of course! More to come! 🙂
