All my flatmates flew home for Christmas, so I hosted Christmas eve noche buena for Maya, Ivy and Mildred at our place. Maya cooked sotanghon, Mildred bought a logcake and I cooked my dad’s estopao which somehow morphed into another one of my pachams when I added pineapple slices and syrup in it. It turned out delicious, though. For my future reference, I used the following ingredients – butter, onions, garlic, 1 kg of chicken marinated in soy sauce, 1 can mushrooms, 3 potatoes, 3 carrots, 6 pineapple slices, 100g tomato paste, water, and salt and seasoning to taste. I asked everyone to wear red and Maya brought santa hats so we all look really nice with our red-trimmed Christmas tree.
We retired to bed (and Mildred to the sofa) at around 2am. I woke up at 8am the next day to find that all my guests were already up. Err. Ivy cooked marinated fish fillet and we ate that along with the other leftovers from the previous night. Then I popped two movies into our DVD player, the heartwarming Toy Story 3 and Everybody’s Fine which both had me in tears. Funny moment – the girls asked me what just happened in the movie and I replied, “He called his own house to hear his dead’s wife voice. He didn’t change the message on his answering machine!” while sobbing into a Kleenex. LOL. We had a lot of laughs too, though, from our conversations about all sorts of things. My tummy hurt from excessive laughter, and it was mostly due to Ivy’s unusual comments.
So yes, I enjoyed my Christmas even though I wasn’t at home. I hope you enjoyed yours too. Merry Christmas to you! ^__^
