Chi is leaving Singapore for good and moving back to the Philippines to be with her husband. Gelle and I met her in J Co Donuts for one last hot chocolate session last Wednesday. She gave us cards she had printed herself along with pearl necklaces to remember her by. Waaahhh! =.(
Then last Saturday night the other ZC folks met up with her and hubby Punch at Makansutra, her favorite hawker place. We had a problem finding a table for all 11 of us so we just squeezed ourselves into one small table that can normally hold 8 people.
It was pretty funny because the first ones to get their order had to rush eating in order to stand up and give the others a turn to eat. Is this a party? Haha.
After we were done polishing off our bbq stingray and Mang Kiko’s pork liempo and roast chicken, we transferred to another favorite hangout of ours, the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf near the Merlion.
The weird thing was, Merly was closed off in a box, under construction. Apparently someone had the brilliant idea of housing him in a hotel room and calling it the Merlion Hotel, apparently to give people a chance to be up close and personal with Singapore’s icon during the day and lucky couples can even stay with him during the night.
I’m sorry but it feels a bit weird to me. I have to see it to appreciate it I guess. It will be temporary, though, just from March to May 2011.
I’ll really miss Chi but her hubby needs her more and I know she’ll be happier in Manila so I’m happy for her too. See you in Manila Chi!
