Some months ago I was asked to be an extra for the Singaporean film Forever. The film has finally been released to theaters, and the director invited me to the movie gala premiere last February 28.
It was my first time to go to a gala premiere so I didn’t know what to expect. When I got there I was given a ticket stub then told to head upstairs where there was a cocktail reception teeming with so much food and people. I certainly did not expect that.

I asked my fellow extra to take this picture for me |
The actresses with the director and producer. Too bad the actor couldn’t come. |

Found this on the web – the director with her husband. LOL! |
Here is the poster they were spoofing |
After that I saw my fellow extra, the one who’s also a director. We went back to the cocktail reception and had some drinks before they opened the cinema doors and we went inside. We had front row seats! The screen was so huge too. The director, producer and actresses went up front and said a few things and finally, the movie was shown.
It was a surreal experience to recognize several snippets that I had seen backstage come together as one onscreen. Only half of my face was shown onscreen as well as my back side, but my name appeared twice in the credits LOL.
The movie is funny and I liked the musical score. I also loved all the shots of the actor LOL. Can’t blame Joey for becoming his stalker! The story is about a wedding video consultant, Joey, who acts as a bride to Gin as the groom for a video. She falls for him and the lines of reality and fantasy becomes blurred as she becomes his crazed stalker, making life for him and his real-life fiancee a nightmare – and a riot for the audience.
It was a rewarding experience to have been a part of that. The movie is entirely in Mandarin but it has English subtitles so hurry and catch it at the nearest GV cinema.
