Our college classmate Jenny stopped by Singapore from Dubai and we met up with her for dinner last Saturday night. We went to our usual, Makansutra, and ordered grilled liempo with rice from Mang Kiko’s and bbq sambal stingray, hokkien mee and kangkong from the neighboring hawker stalls.

Coincidentally, Singapore was practising for their National Day program and set off fireworks. What a lovely welcome for Jen.
Fireworks are always a nice way to welcome someone to Singapore |
After dinner we walked towards the merlion so our tourist could take pictures of the sights that Singapore is known for.

Meeting Merly for the what, 37th time in three years? |
At first I was part of the pictures, as you can see, but then after I took a picture that made everyone do a collective “Wow!!!” I suddenly became the designated photographer of the night, touting Jen’s SLR around my neck.

We walked from the merlion park to Clarke Quay, where we walked around before settling down for some ice cream smoothies at Marble Slab.

P.S. Thank you Jen for all the chocolates!
